cars been running perfect for over a year. then suddenly tries stalling on me. pumping the gas barely keeps its running. after it sits for awhile it'll run for a minute, then start sputtering again. any ideas? i'm sure theres dozens of things it could be. thanks for any help or ideas. motor has a 700 double pumper, still squirts after engine has quit. i dont think it's a fuel problem
you could have water in the fuel tank... my dad's boat did the same thing. the water turns to a gel like substance, it gets sucked up into the pickup tube, choking the engine off then returns to the bottom of the tank when the engine cuts off. Its worth a check before any costly repairs.
It beats the hell out of "It runs like crap." The only thing more priceless is the idiots who actually start 'fixin' the car.
I'm still mindreading on this one because you offer zero information. The only sure thing I can see is a pos carb in the picture, enough for me to hit the 'next' button.
What prompted me is I feel bad about the glass adustmetn post. All I would have had to do is say in is out and out is in.
Pretending that I'm standing there listening to the car running, The first thing I would do is make note of the timing, in order to reset it, and advance it a degree or so. I know it sounds pretty basic but I'm not a very fart smeller. I would also check the advance, both vacuum and mechanical.
As for feedback on that garbage carb, you need to throw it away and get a real performance carb, or ask someone else.
if you need to floor it to restart , its flooding. lower the float levels on both primary and secondaries. Lower until you can just see it in the site window, i aways did this with it running, drop level till you cant see it in window m then bring back up until you can just see it splashing at the bottom of window. is this a Holley ? if that doesnt work the float valve is sticking open remove and replace. The other thing ive seen is if they are brass floats , over time they can leak and get to heavy to float., replace wiith foam floats.
