I picked up a rebuilt but never fired 400 block a while back. I finally got around to taking it apart and it has a 496452 350 crank in it. Anyone know the difference between 350 and 400 cranks? The bearing surfaces all seem to be the same. I'm guessing it's the counterweights. Are they interchangeable?
From what I remember the 350 crank is missing some counter balances in the midddle. I would like to know why they did this? I would guess the piston weight was more for the 400s but that is just a guess.
would not work if they were missing any counterbalance, the engine would vibrate itself to death. 350,400 same crank dimensions only differences are the flywheel centering hub between years.
