Can anyone recomend a shifter B&M or others that they have installed and were still able to use the stock console. Any pix wold be appreciated. Oh, by the way its a 67 vert with Automatic. Currently column shift.

I would be interested also since switching from a 2 speed auto to a 4 OD auto. I bought the detent kit from shiftworks but you can shift into various gears to easy. I would prefer a lockout system like I had on my 71 Mach 1 at one time (it was a B&M Starshifter BTW).

I like the size of the hammer shifter... but I don't know if it would fit in the console. Someone must have come up with a solution before!

I remeber someone who put the dual gate shifter from a 68GTO in there console. Don't recall if it was some one from this site or the Classical Pontiac site. They had to be a little creative but it looked very good when they were done.

I saw this Firebird with a B&M Quicksilver shifter in the stock console:

It looks like it's a standard Quicksilver with base and they just removed the base. I went to the B&M site and compared their 2nd gen console Camaro/Firebird to the standard Quicksilver. The console version is missing those 2 screws at the back of the shifter plate.

This question seems to come up from time to time in various forums. I've never read a post from anyone with a definite answer. That one on ebay is the only photo I've actually seen. I like the looks of the B&M Hammer. I'm considering a swap to a 2004R. I wonder if the floor mount version's base can be trimmed to fit in a console. Seems like it would depend on the height of the shifter and the size of the plate where it would need to cover the hole in the stock Firebird console.

Anyone want to take a chance and blow a couple of hundred bucks to experiment? Maybe all of us that are considering such a swap could kick in a few bucks each to fund the experiment. For that matter, has anyone tried to retro-fit a later model console into a first gen, like Kevin King did with the Year One 69 camaro?

I am willing to buy the shifter and try it. However I don't have a console yet. Can anyone let me know where I can find a black console in good shape?

I have a B&M Megashifter in mine. I did have to notch the console to get it to fit in. I then took the bezel that came with the shifter and cut it down and place some edge gasketing on the bottom to clean it up a little.
