First off I have to thank everyone hear once again for their help...My car is finally coming together 6+ years later.
I recently installed the Autometer Gauges from Classic Dash (Look good but kinda a pain to install) and the only thing not working is the gas gauge.
I was told it has nothing to do with the gauge itself and is most likely the sending unit. when putting a meter on it...It was only giving off something like .5 ohms rather than reading 0-90 ohms which is what i was told it should be.
I was also told it was a common thing for the sending unit to go bad after all these year but I wasnt sure if I would need to replace the entire sending unit of just apart of it.
Disconnect the wire leading to the sending unit, shoud be a connection in the trunk. I forget just now which way it works, but if you ground the wire to the gauge it will either read full or empty, and just the opposite if dissconnected (no ground.) As far as I know you have to replace the entire sending unit, you can't get any parts for it.

Check your ground wire from the sending unit first. It should be in front of the tank attached to the body near one of the tank mounting straps. If your ground is good, then yes, you will probably need a new sending unit. You can drop the tank easily enough with just lifting the back of the car up some up putting it on jack stands. You'll want to "remove" as much gas as you can out of the tank first though.
