Does anyone have a choke thermostatic coil rod that goes from the carburator (Rochester 7028168)to the coil located at the exhaust manifold that they can part with? This is for a '68 FB 250 inline 6 OHC automatic trans. Or know of anything that will work? Not easy to start cold... as you can imagine.

Try Ames Performance. Part numbers FM501CK or FM501CL might work...

I couldn't get these part numbers to come up on the Ames site. Any other suggestions from anyone?

I'll look through my stuff tomorrow. I may have one on an old carb/intake setup in the garage.

It is very hard to find an original. When everyone pulled the Sprint Manifolds for resale they typically forgot to keep all the linkages. Getting the manifolds is easy, getting the linkages is hard. I would get a piece of 1/8" metal dowel and bend one up while you look (which might take many years).

Ames Performance changed their part numbers. I just ordered these less than a month ago:

FN501CJ Choke thermostat rod w/clip $8
FN501D Choke thermostat housing, coil, and rod $37

Thanks Berd, but I don't think that will work. I should have specified that I have the 2 speed automatic with 1 bbl. carb. I think the FN501CJ is for the quadrajet. Anywhere else I might look?

For some reason, Ames shows these parts for 4BBL only. Not sure where to go from here. I'll let you know if I find anything.

I guess I didn't realize you were looking for a rod on a 1BBL carb. Have you posted over on the OHC forum. I am sure there are plenty of folks that have converted over to a 4 BBL and may have one of these laying around. OBTW here is the link
