Achtung Baby was a better album, U2 at their best.
Steve
I disagree.
The Unforgettable Fire was U2 at their peak of creativity, with the Joshua Tree then being their descent, even though that was still a really good album. Everything after that was them on auto-pilot, recycling the sound that made them once unique (thanks, to Steve Lillywhite, Brian Eno and Danny Lanois).
Vertigo was the only song that I've heard in at least the last 20 years that's been the exception; a throw-back to when they meant something.
Sorry, had to let that out.

The Unforgettable Fire the peak of creativity for U2, really? While a great record, it really was the album that showed that they were not going away soon, there is some classic stuff on it. But Achtung Baby was light years ahead in their growth as a band. There is not one track that sucks on it. They got really weird on Zooropa & Pop, but rebounded well since.
I have seen them 5 times so far, really one of the best live shows you can see in rock music. I was at shows in Chicago '06 Vertigo tour DVD release.
To each his own. I've seen U2 only once, so you are more a fan than me. It was during the Unforgettable Fire tour, though. I saw them at Massey Hall in Toronto, a theater that seats about 2,700, on Dec 7, 1984.

Wow this is an odd thread, I love u2 music. I think Bono is a moron. I don’t understand why musicians, and actors end up biting the hand that feeds them.
I've never seen them in concerts; I pretty much like studio music. I've only seen a few bands in live, heart, Kiss, skynard. Back in the 70's like 1976, 1977 in Worcester Massachusetts. Wasn’t worth the money huge stadium, couldn’t see sh!t . So loud it was distorted. Just a big crowd of wasted kids.
Drugs of choice back then, weed, hash, hash oil , and LSD . Now nothing at all don’t even drink , waste of time.
WIDE AWAKE IN AMERICA, first U.S. release. two songs that's it, flip the tape over, same two songs. anthem, stadium rock doesn't get any better. joshua tree best album.
Drug of choice... {Reality}... Have You ever Seen the Light... {CCR}... Outta State..... Oh Yeah,,, Budweiser,,(Anheuser-Busch) Drink Of choice Till The rich baster traitor Sold us out,,{creep}....... Who made That Piece Of Crap Rich anyway,, WE DID..... Then he Had The Nerve To sell Out To Another country....... Anybody Remember The Eagle emblem that used to be on the Budweiser Label??,, Looks alot Like The Oldest American Brewery emblem,, "Yuengling"s eagle... Duh... "As Long as I Can See the Light"... Don't Look back Now,, Devils on The loose...... Oh Lord,, Stuck with A Lard A$$ Again...
I like U2 but I can think of alot of other bands and musicians that make better music. I do like to play the one song with the backing choir(Be With You?) on Sundays. Closest I get to religion.
Ok, got it figured out- he was sealing his new patio with solvent based sealer... I am now on the same wave length..WOW -STRONG STUFF!

God Bless the men and women past and present that have served this country. Thank you. Support D.A.V. - it helps gives a life back to those who gave so much for us.....
'Physical Graffiti' by Led Zeppelin, 'Band of Gypsys' or 'Electric Ladyland' by Jimi Hendrix, or 'Brain Salad Surgery' by Emerson Lake & Palmer.. Now we're talkin' I like listening to the stuff that harkens back to the 'First Gen' days.. Bono is a living legend though with many hits to his credit.
