So i was looking on a few sites and i came across this 68 firebird and it sits alot higher than mine. What is the stock ride height for the front and rear wheel wells? whats the best way to raise the rear? Mine has new front coils, rear bushings but no where near this high.Im not saying i want it this high but i would like it alittle higher in the rear. the owner said he put new rear springs
Looks to me the car is gutted, no weight to lower it where it should be. This topic has come up numerous times with as many opinions when you find out please let me know.
IIRC the height at the rocker panel ahead of the rear wheel is about 8"... And close to 9" at the rocker behind the front wheel. Our 'birds were designed to "squat"...
Info is listed in the service manual.
I'm a hobbyist. Not a professional. Don't be hatin'!
Something looks weird about that Firebird in the first pic. It appears the front wheels are too far back in the wheelwells, and the rear wheels are too far forward, like the chassis is a few inches shorter than the body.
Yes, lots of topics on stock ride height, just do a search.
This one sits close to stock, just runs a little quicker.
I understand there's a lot of different topics, what are different ways to lift the rear alittle if someone wanted to? I would like mine level or the rear 1" or so higher
Replace rear springs. Re-arch current rear springs. Add helper rear springs. Longer shackles. Traction bars (because they usually come with longer shackles). Rear sir shocks. Coil-over helper rear shocks. Replace front springs with lower/softer. Cut portion off of current front springs. Empty the trunk.
Some are better ideas than others. These are simply "different ways..."
