I need help installing the passenger-side quarter window. I took it out to replace the lower roller. It was already off the track when I removed it. Does anyone have any tricks getting all three rollers back on track? Thanks.
Anyone who has dinked with f/g/f q/glasses will probally agree that they suck. Maybe you can find a shortcut, but the way I ended up doing them is to remove the track, leaving it in the inner structure, insert the quarter glass in the hole, and weaseling the rollers in the track.
You might find it easiser if you remove the outer felt before you stuff the glass; it comes out easisly while the glass is out, and you can install it with the glass in place.
When you're removing the track, pay attention to the retaining studs. They have slotted tips for adustment. Everything usually goes to hell anyway, so it probally won't matter, but you may want to hold the slotted tip with a flat screwdriver as you remove the nuts.
There is in-out adjustments, back and forth adjuestments, and height adjustments. One of the fatal flaws is the height adjustment. (That's why the quarter glass fell out. Whoever fooled with it before had the height adjustment [stop] too high, not limiting the up travel.
Nothing comes in neal little packages: As you play with the adjustments, the door glass and how it interelates comes in play, so if you run into issues with alignemt, always look and see if the door glass alignment compounds the problem.
Thanks for validating that this is a real sucky project. I tried everything short of removing the tracks. I loosened them but didn't remove them. Now I know what I'm doing this Saturday. And my hands were just starting to heal...
Post project update: There is only one way to install the quarter window/roller assembly on the track and that's from the top. Align all three rollers and it will slide right in. You may need to loosen up the track adjustments, I only had the bottom adjustment/attachment point connected when I did it. Good luck.
Yep, that sounds like the way. I had the whole assembly floppin around when I did it. Uness I ovelooked something, it seems impossible to drop them in with the tracks bolted in place.
