So I have my '67 Firebird that was a originally a Sprint 6 car. The guy I got it from bought it with a Chevy inline 6. I am putting a 389 from a '66 Bonnie in it.
Here we go. I only have to run the alternator, power steering pump, and water pump.
The engine has a 4 inch, 11 bolt water pump, casting #9796351.
I have several different brackets and pulleys that came with the engine, however none seem to line up properly.
I have 1 crank pulley,#9782704, 8" diameter, 3 groove with a 1/8 inch thick spacer plate between it and the crank:
I have 2 water pump pulleys. First #3927796 AE, 7-1/8" Dia, and 3698917, 5-7/8" Dia:
I have an assortment of alternator adjusting brackets. I'm pretty sure the top one was from the 6 cylinder. I think the one I need to use is the bottom one.
I am pretty sure this is a V8 bracket, but I don't know for what.
Here is the power steering pump. I don't know if these are 6 cyl or V8 brackets. (Sorry for the crappy image)
The 5-7/8 water pump pulley (3698917) lines up the closest with the water pump, but it seems that the crank pulley could use a little thicker spacer to get them perfect. Plus, it would spin the water pump a little faster (good?) I haven't tried to mount up the alternator or power steering pump yet to check their alignments.
Does anyone have any idea what the pulleys are from or if they are even compatible with each other? Should I just spend the money at the junk yard for all the brackets and pulleys from the same engine?
As I am out the door and my employer is heavily into Web censorship and I will not be able to see your photos, I am including the 3 websites below for visual reference:
The 2 longer alternator brackets you show are both used. The 1 with the 90 degree bend at the end is the rear one that attaches to the front bolt of the intake manifold radiator hose outlet, the other to an upper water pump bolt.
