Ok, let me start by saying that I search for previously answered questions before I ask them. I haven't has much luck finding topics that I'm sure have been previously discussed. So here goes...
Has anyone come up with a good fix for the tabs the break off from the console shift plate? I went to ace hardware, but couldn't find anything I felt I could make work. I don't want to "rig" anything, but I'm considering just trying to cut some thin gauge metal and bend it into the shape I want. Anyone have a better fix?
I have a shifter plate with one fixed and one broken, was told it would easily fix...forgot the name of the screw he told me to use...but I`ll show you pic of what it looks like... I have not installed the shifter plate as im too lazy to fix the remaining clip...not sure Il`l ever use this...
here some more pics...a small screw (he used a special name for it)screws in to the broken area holding the clip....not sure if or how it works....bought this as I thought it had both clips intact...but dont want to mess with it , my other with the screws thru it is fine as is.
why not just attach a small block of wood or something with some goop, level with the outer edge and use some velcro on the console and the wood to attach it...won't have screws showing through the plate???
I agree. Mine doesn't have any holes in it (original) and the clips are broken. Someone before me used black calk (maybe DumDum)and it works great. Doesn't get hard and always stickey.
Bjorn, do you still have that plate? Interested in selling it? I just installed a 69 shifter in my 68. The 68 plate is getting beaten up withe side bumps.
