Hey all... Saw some "interior rocker panel" sheet metal (4 pieces) posted on ebay, and I said to myself "hey! I've got a set of those!". I just don't know what their purpose is! (Certain disadvantages to buying a car in pieces, I suppose.) I believe they mount just inside the ... well... rocker panels under the carpet.?
Am I correct? Most folks still have them in their cars?
Whew! I'd never even seen a pic of the sheet metal before the ebay ad, and I was fortunate to stumble on it. I am presently putting carpet in the car... so this was a good time to figure it out!
Well at least you had the forsight to keep them. I pitched mine along with the convertible X panel brace and the pieces that go above the rad for better cooling when i bought the car. I unfortunately never knew what they were for until a while afterwards

David, I can really relate... I was all but completely convinced that they were for another car. I guess there's a certain benefit to being too lazy to "get organized". They've been stuck in a box for a couple years...
Salmon, Nope.. Mine are a bit rusty as well. I moved here about 5 months ago, and my Firebird is a fine Michigan specimen... Where would the challenge be in having a nice rust-free car to start with?! (Actually, the price was right!) I'll keep my eyes out for some meets in the "area".. Maybe I'll catch up with you at one sometime fairly soon.
David, I have a extra set of of those from a conv I parted out. There yours if you want them. Just send me your shipping address and send them out. (Kgoodrich@adelphia.net)

I'm not positive but I think the correc term for the parts are wire gutter covers. Then agian, engine and motor have become a legitimat interchange, so I guess that we can have rocker panels inside of the car.
Yes, my car has them, and most cars I have seen still have them.
