This is the text from my craiglist ad (below)or here is a link right to it. There's pics of the car in the ad, and a link to a photobucket slideshow as well. Thanks for looking!
1968 Firebird project for sale, must sell to make room. It was a father son project that neither of us want to finish, so now it's up to you!!!
Right now it's a sandblasted, frame-off chassis on dollies. Mostly all the parts are with it, sandblasted as well and some of the metal work has been done. I started making patches and epoxy priming some of the parts too. You'll see in the pictures that the original fenders have been sandblasted, patched and primed. The chassis and the doors have been sitting for a few years in bare metal (always garaged) so they have some surface rust here and there, but I've been told by some pretty savvy car guys that it doesn't need to be re-blasted, but just wiped down with acid etch prior to priming. I didn't bother sandblasting the quarter panel area because I planned to cut them off, and the dash isn't blasted because the paint is in very good shape (just need to scuff before priming). I have quarter panel skins that were made for a '67 (so you'll just need to cut out for the side marker lens- a small job for someone who can install a quarter panel.) The frame comes with it, I've stripped it down and repaired all the body mounts (you can see in the pictures), it just needs primer and paint. The car will need partial floors at least, partial rockers, inner/outer wheel wells, and a trunk. A good metal worker might be able to get away with some patches here and there. I priced out the parts at Ground up restoration in Naugatuck and it's about $500 for those parts I mentioned. I have already bought one of the rear shock tower mounts which it will need installed).
It comes with all the original glass, the center console, instrument panel, rear seats (no fronts), rear side panels (in good shape), front door panels (in bad shape), a mouse piss covered headliner rolled up (in case you need the metal bars for the replacement one), and many boxes of neatly packed labeled parts. Which includes all the headlight/tailight assemblies, mechanics for the doors/windows, lots of miscellaneous trim parts. It includes a gas tank, front and rear bumpers (that need rechroming). Also comes with a chevy 327 with a four speed saginaw. I was told when I bought it that the rear is a 3:23 posi.
I'll also include a gallon of unopened epoxy primer and catalyst, and a gallon of unopened chassis black paint. (Ill throw in the filters, measuring cups and stirrers at no extra charge ). I've got one or two cans of cast-blast (cast iron colored paint) and trunk spray. I've got most of the car accouted for and pretty neatly stored, but If we stay in touch after you buy the car I'll probably find miscellaneous parts here and there. I've even got the original wiring harness that I labeled and rolled up (not foolproof-it was my first time) I've got many books for parts and a chiltons manual too.
Delivery might be possible if local.
