hello, i noticed yesterday that my headlights dont work. everything else seems ok (taillights, brakelights, turn signals, parking lights. it seemed to happen when i used the foot high beam switch because the brights were on. when i switched them off, the headlights went off and never came back on. could this be a bad high beam foot switch ? thanks
Don't overlook a problem with the headlight relay, especially if you are using higher current draw halogen bulbs and an orginal relay made for use with T-3 incandescents.
If you're getting power to the high-low switch and none out replace the switch. I had one that went on me in the dark going around a sharp turn, switched to high and nothing I kicked it a few times and got the lows back but the switch was toast. I don't know if your 69 has headlight relays my 68 doesn't but that may be the cause if you have them.
yes! i measured 12volts on the tan wire to the switch, and 0 volts out of the other two wires (blue and green) with the high beam foot switch in both positions. i jumpered the tan wire and the blue (low beam) wire and the lights work !!!!! i'm going to tie the tan and blue wires together and just make the switch nonfunctional, since i never plan to use the high beams anyways and when i let my friend drive if i had too many he always hits the foot switch on/off so now it wont matter. thanks for all your help!!!
you can take the switch apart and clean it, I did that with mine.they are cheap enough to buy new,but they are easy to take apart and check out.it will only cost you your time.
