I got the car back from the body shop and the paint is great, but the panel alignment is less than desirable. The doors really sagged and body shop had a very difficult time aligning them. I could just see their pockets getting fatter as they were messing with the panels, so I said just do the best you can and I got it out of there. So I pulled the doors off and am in the process of replacing the pins and PLASTIC (some) BUSHINGS. Now, do I have to remove the fenders to rehang the doors? I think that is the right thing to do, but if I don't have to I'd rather not.
Pulling the fenders is the best way, but it can be done without. I hope you have a thick layer of tape on all the edges to protect your new paint either way.
You pulled the doors off with the fenders on, just put them back on using the same technique, except add some wood, a jack, and a friend. It is not that hard to pull the fenders though, and IMO, worth it. Still need the wood, jack, and friend though, or at least I did.
