I'm really wanting to keep my 68 dash factory original as possible but would like modern day audio. One thought is to mount a current player with CD, ipod , etc hidden in the glove compartment and mount an orginal AM radio in the dash for looks but having a heck of time finding the original radio in decent condition. Anyone have any exeperience with the USA 630 model made by classic car stereos? If so,does your unit fit in the original center dash panel. I dont want to cut one up.

IMO, you wont' get much more original looking than these AAR units with modern inputs and sound...but you do pay the price:

I have no personal experience with them, or with the one you ask about. Just catalog surfing.

I have a disconnected AM in the dash and nice Kenwood head unit in the glove box with an infrared repeater (PAC IR-X)to operate it with the door closed from the remote. Works great.

That was my original plan, but tough to find an AM radio in decent shape for the restored interior.

Lots of AM radios around in OK shape. Have you posted in Parts Wanted? Many people with them won't check Tech area.
