Guess we better start a topic for those in the East/Northeast to report in either now or when they get power back. I hope all FGF's are OK.

I noticed the media has renamed it to "Superstorm Sandy".

Here in Pittsburgh we did not get anything really bad. High winds and a lot of rain, wet snow, some hail. Thank God for the Appalachians.

All is well here in East Tn. Just a slow rain all day. Some areas around here (about 30 miles away in SW Va.) got 6-8 inches of snow, but none here. Spoke with my son this afternoon (he lives in Hickory NC) and he said they didn't have any snow yet.

Pretty uneventful in Blacksburg. Some wind and a little snow that didn't stick.

We got hammered. Lost power for a day, trees down everywhere. I was supposed to close on a vacation home today in SEA ISLE CITY, NJ. That is where the hurricane made landfall. The pictures I have seen are sickening. I don't know if the house is ok but the ocean met the bay which means the streets had at least 5 feet of water on them.

My marina lost 45 boats. I brought my boat home two weeks ago because I had to go out of the country. I was very lucky.

The pictures are making me sick to my stomach sick cry

From the pictures and info I have been reading, the PO I bought my '68 'vert from would have had an underwater car. He had it kept in a very low back yard single car garage. It would have been floating after this mess. frown Good thing I brought it to higher ground back in '07. grin Now it gets long winter sleeps! (and some summers) cry

Here are a few additional photos. Confirmed 45 boats lost at my marina. Several are MIA i.e. cannot be found yet. Not under the water or in the area.

That's tough to see all that fiberglass strewn about like that. It's a shame people don't react the way they should when a big storm comes in. There would be a lot less damage done and a lot less lives put a risk.

After just getting back from taking my kids trick or treating, it just occurred to me that all those kids in that part of the country will miss out on one of their favorite Holidays as well. Too sad!

Lost power evening of the storm, My sister in Freeport Long Island lost her whole house, my dad lost the first floor in Oakdale... Just got power yesterday pm, Had gen up and running and had lots of gas... The three birds in the garage each have 3/4 of a tank to siphon off... Gas is hard to come buy here.. I lost front facia on the house and of course the biggest tree on my 20 acres fell across the driveway.. Good thing I didn't get rid of the HOE........ Ok my case 580 back hoe... Wife wanted me to sell it....It sits around for months but wow when you need it it always fires up.....People are already stealing gas from cars....We commandeered my daughters civic for work. 40 mpg vs 23 on the GTO.... My heart goes out to all the folks at the Shore.... Ron

Commuting has been ok, I did see someone carrying a garden hose outside the employee parking lot.. Wonder why? It dawned on me why, when my brother walked outside in Long Island and found two guys siphoning gas out of his 68 Mustang.. My brother now owns a new five gallon gas can and a piece of hose.....I hope the gas issue gets better here...

I'm in So. NH. 25 miles inland from the coast. The wind was wicked, but I must say the October snow storm last year was far more damaging in this area than Sandy was.

We have some pines up rooted in the woods, last year I had oaks snap in half. Much more clean up and power outages.

The people in NJ and NY suffered the brunt of this one on the east coast. My support goes out to them.

Well I will get the chance to see my soon to be investment and the surrounding area in person this weekend. From the pictures I have seen I am trying to prepare myself. I spent most of my summers as a child at the Jersey shore and I am afraid at what I may (or may not in this case) find. I will be helping out friends and anyone else who needs a hand this weekend with cleanup or a reassuring hug if need be. I have a feeling it will be an emotional time. I lot of people I know live down there full time and have lost everything.
