It's a Pontiac... Our car friends were tired of us not coming to cruise nights and car shows. So what did they do? They literally dropped off this in our driveway last week and said put plates on it and start cruising again. If not, it's going to the Turkey Run for sale. 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J 400/350hp(62 heads)-400auto, factory a/c, cruise, tilt, factory front wheel disc brakes, AM/FM. 82k original miles. This is a one owner car. It is ALL original and 100% complete! I can not find ANYTHING MISSING from this car at all. It has it's original paint and has NEVER been hit nor repaired ANYWHERE and has NO RUST on this car. It spent it's entire life in GA and was owner by a Military Captain from day one until this past month. This car runs, drives and rides absolutely perfect!

This car will be 100% my wife's call. She will be the one driving it, as I no longer drive. So any and or all work done to it will be her call! Right off the bat she says it needs to be a 4-speed, so the round up has already begun and most parts have been found.
She is thinking triple black, all the interior parts are salvageable and may be dyed nicely. The vinyl top is basically perfect and has NO RUST ISSUES UNDER IT, NONE, and can easily be dyed black. The body has ZERO rust but has several dings & dents and can certainly be painted black. So.......

Nice, one of my favorites. Only thing better would be the 428 4 speed GP, but good luck finding one of those.

Thanks guys! Tammy is quite excited about this car to say the least. I have access to a 428 H.O. engine if we so wanted to go that route. My friend has it sitting in storage and it is a 69 block to boot. It's a complete, running engine (was when it was pulled anyway) and I can have it for basically nothing. I still have the 4-speed from the Firebird as well and I was given a bell housing just the other day. So all in all we could build Tammy a 69 GP SJ 428 HO clone quite easily and very inexpensively overall. Surprisingly the parts are fairly easy to round up and the Turkey Run is this week. In fact, I am off to the track right now. Thanks everyone and Happy Thanksgiving!

I had a 71 Model J for several years. 400/400. Excellent highway cars. My buddy had a 72 and one night we found ourselves exceding the speed limit down the highway. Looked at the speedo and we were at 130. Mine was medium blue metallic. Barry

Not a high demand car to begin with and in addition all that will be done (just as in the past with any of our cars) only things that could have been ordered on this car will be added will so be done etc. A hood tach will most certainly be a MUST!

That looks like a very nice car. Apparently, if you keep the vinyl tops out of the sun, they hold up well. My 68 Firebird has its original vinyl top, and it looks like new.

I agree on the vinyl top. I've always said if they are installed properly and maintained properly they can & will last. People all to often just assume a vinyl top automatically equals rust. When I added the vinyl top to the LeMans everyone said it would rust out within months etc. The top we put on our 68 Firebird was on there for 10 years and when we parted it out I peeled it back and not ONE pinhead of rust anywhere. So again, I think if they are cared for meticulously they can last for years given they are installed properly from the get go!

Nice! And knowing your work Joe it will be really, really, nice in short order. Those are really cool cars. This one may take some time, may pull the motor and may even separate the body from the frame etc. Not exactly sure. Plus I have two more rooms to finish on the house. So this could be awhile. Good news is we can drive her for now. In fact, I took this beast out today (shh, not on the road and I dont drive) LOL [censored] I have never driven any automatic with this much power. This car rips the tires off the rims from a dead stop (without holding the brake) and actually lights them up in a full bore spin when it shifts into second gear on it's own! This is WAY COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! All of this on 20+ year old plugs, wires, cap, points, rotor etc. The ONLY thing we did was an oil change & filter and cleaned the plugs & points! I can not get over this car and how well it runs, drives, rides and stops for sitting all those years. If I didn't see it with my own eye, I wouldn't even believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks David!
Just found out yesterday the car has a power trunk release. Finally, a car I don't have to add this option too! I did find a tilt column for it yesterday at the Turkey Run. Here we go again! And the fun begins...
Here is what the car already has: a/c, power trunk, remote mirror, front disc brake, power brake, power steering, cruise, AM/FM, lighted vanity mirror. This is what I have noticed thus far and now I have the tilt column.
Here is what the early plan is: 4-speed conversion, long branch manifolds/dual 3" exhaust, hood tach, red lines, triple black.

Thanks for the very kind words! We are quite excited. I will be taking and posting more pics today. Now that the Turkey Run is over I will take some time and give the car a good go through etc. Man does this car ever run, drive & ride excellent! Hard to believe considering it's been sitting for over 20 years!

I'm very happy for you buddy.

This car was purchased and owned from day one by an Army Colonel in Macon GA. He ordered the car day one and owned it until last month. My friend who owns all the Pontiacs & Corvettes has known of this car for the past 3 years and has been telling me about it. He kept telling me "some day we will run up to GA and get that old Grand Prix for something to do". Well, that day finally came. The people were in no rush to get it out of the garage and it was always going to be my friend who would get it they knew he was the Pontiac guy to make sure it found a good home.
Well, it has! This car has been sitting and waiting for over 20 years to be tended too and put back on the road and that day is coming soon!
