I hate to do it but I'm going to have to put the second gen extractors on the Race Car, at 130 the front end gets super light and with the changes I'm doing 150 mph is possible. I'm adding a splitter and lowering it another couple of inches but I have to get the air out and the 69 T/A extractors didn't work that well, or look good on a 68. I remember a couple of guys here talking about it and I have a picture of one but it's not very good. Anybody have some better pictures or feedback if they've done it?
Thanks Gordon

Gordon, I assume you have the front snow plow? which is in my mind very good stabilizer at higher speeds...but if its not enough ,are you thinking that extracors really will help that much? I` ve only seen one guy with second gen extractors up on his fenders...it really didnt look good. he was a Canadian guy living here in Houston , but since moved....I will look , but i`m not sure I have a good picture of his car.... I`m assuming you do have the info about spoilers from the Camaro site? just in case i`ll go find that and post it...it was for Camaros racing in them old days. http://www.camaro-untoldsecrets.com/articles/rpo_d80.htm
Have a set off a 76-79 here somewhere. Was gon'a put'm on my 68 street/strip car. Mounted a TA scoop to the 350 hood for more carb clearence(Victor intake) yrs ago. Save'n up for a Northwind since have a 400 glass hood now. And the Victor got stolen... Pic's on link are with an RPM and plate system.
I have a front spoiler, not near enough and too high off the track. I plan to drop it another 2" and add a splitter. Up to 120 the spoiler works ok but the rear spoiler starts puhing the back down and over 130 the front end lifts with to much air damming up with no place to go. I don't run inner fenders so once I drop it that will close off the wheel well and make it even worse.

Bjorn, I did find the video of the Bird in Question in Kelly's video file. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQCNYBTNI6k&list=UU3oTwJFIAiGIxTXnjOnjd3g&index=4 Go to about 1 minute and there is some good side shots. It is the red 68 Vert in front of a red 69 Vert with Buick wheels and bald rear tires. It looks like a Z-28 style being more angular than the T/A style and also looks as out of proportion as a TA one. If I were doing this, I would section the scoop a bit shorter and narrower to make it fit and look better on your 68 Fenders.
Another thought, how about cutting a hole(s) in the firewall into the cowl area to relieve the pressure. The air would then go out over the windshield and to the rear spoiler and relieve the air build up in the engine compartment.
Good job Bill! yup thats the car.....what do mean my car has bald tires?lol..
Gordon..how bad is the track you are running...I mean up/down surfaces...can you get a spoiler much firther down w/o hitting? like the more modern race cars..stiffer front suspension also to negate down force from body? the lower the better..I assume you also have lowered the front end stance...and of course the rear spoiler helps push down rear wheels , but also negates some of what the front one does...could you try it w/o the rear spoiler to see how the front reacts? how about custom building a more like the TA front spoiler? deeper , and wide...
