I want to see what they have to say about this one over on the PY site. Seems like Kenny is trying to make a killing off of second hand info he's gotten from a couple of 80+ year old guys. Says it had all this special stuff but it's all gone now. Looks like just another heap to me.
Total moron. The PHS documents RIGHT THERE ON HIS AD show it's a WU code 400 motor with AIR built for California. NOT circled is the WQ RA Motor with AIR built for California with the number of "4" that he yakes about in the ad.
And like FireBob says, I think the 80+ original owner's mind is a bit fuzzy.
Other winning comments:
"Racing" traction bars only installed on Ram Air Cars. Dude - it's '67 4-speed. Those come from the factory on all stick shift cars.
"Built in Van Nuys CA."
"Factory forgot to put on the Ram Air parts". True for all of them.
All this is is a totally rusted-out CA 400 4-speed with special paint. When you have rust eating up the trunk lid and hood - the rest of it is a Fred Flinstone-mobile.

What's funny is Kenny probably thought he really hit the jackpot with this one. He ate up those stories with a big ole spoon and figured he was going to make a once in a lifetime killing on this deal. The old owner was probably a lot shrewder than this guy gave him credit for. Probably still laughing at the jackass that swallowed that one. BWAHHHHH. Buyer beware.

OK, the seller added shots of the top of the bare floors. You can judge for youself despite the claim of "does not need floors".
My '67 spent it's entire life in So Cal and I can tell you my floor pans look NOTHING like his.
PS: the reserve price has been met.

As the saying goes, "The older we are, the faster we were."
Heck, you should read the stuff that a guy wrote on the PY site about the old "Glory Days" on Woodward Ave. You'd think his car saved the world, and that his car is more famous than the General Lee.
The special paint code is interesting, but I'm afraid the rest of the story is a bit shaky. The guy seems up front an honest about it though.
It does sound like he's just passing along all the rumour and stories that he's been fed about this car. All it really means is it's led a hard life and it has none of the original equipment that would make it a special car except for the data plate. And if it was drag raced that long it means the body has been twisted enough times to crack about every stress point there is. I'd be surprised if the doors close and the windows roll up ok. Up to $6200. All's it needs is about another $20K dumped into it and it might be worth $20K(just because it's so special). I wish the new owner good luck, they are going to need it.

Could you post a link? I would find this discussion interesting.

I think the seller should be banned from ebay. At this point it met the reserve, was bid up to $6200, then sold(auction ended) for $6K, then the next day it shows back up relisted for $6500. I wouldn't deal with this guy if he was giving this heap away. Something stinks in the barrio. Somebody is going to get suckered on this deal.
Then it might be up to us to report this new auction.

2 days left to go on the new auction and zero bids.

great perceptive posts. 90% of the ebay car sellers are "dealers" lots are gypsies. most shill their auctions. in the end the buyer obviously needs to know what he's doing. kennys feeback is suspiciously overly complimentary. hope all those buyers washed their mouth out after all that but kissing. hate to say this though, kenny did post good photos with the the phs and his phone number so he isn't trying to hide much like many others do. he's just not as knowledgeable as he could be.
At least when it doesn't sell, we won't have to follow it further as the seller states "it will not be for sale again".
right....

Most likely because he can see that the rusted heap will collapse into a pile of iron oxide before he can relist it.

The only person that's going to make out well with that thing is the professional restoration shop that gets to rebuild it. If that ever happens.

Kenny probably had a deal worked out with his original seller that he would buy it(but only if it sold for alot more than he paid for it). Since he couldn't make the killing he wanted he probably back out of the whole deal. I mean who in their right mind would lay out good ole green for that heap.
