I have sourced a 9794234 intake and a 7029268 qjet carb. 1. The intake is dusty/slight rusty inside does it need to be "tanked" or just blown out? 2. Does the cam need to be replaced to support the above intake and carb? 3. What is a good source for qject carb rebuild kits and parts( it is missing the choke pull off to secondaries link).
What engine/year do you have? 1. Cleaner the better... for $35 a hot tank will take care of any contamination worries. 2. Hard to say without knowing what you have in there today. Also need to know exhaust, transmission and rear end combos 3. Cliff Ruggles... best source for q-jet parts. Google him an you'll find what you need.
Yep, cleaner the better. Besides it will hold the new paint better if it's clean. You could beatblast, just make sure you get all the media out after. No need to change cams(unless you want to) just for a 4bbl swap. Cliff, the carb shop. If you're going to rebuild it you might want to get Cliff's book on the subject.
Don't expect miracles from just bolting on a 4bbl though. Those stock 2bbl dump alot of gas too. You might not get any more performance out of it except it'll sound better when the secondaries open up. That'll make you smile.
"What engine/year do you have?" I should have posted: 350 pontiac engine rebuilt in 1979-1980- an on and off daily driver since. 350 auto. transmission from a 72 Nova. Dual exhaust with 69 transam type mufflers and pipes. Original differential.
I did a few many moons ago, didn't like it to much, I did the edelbrock on my car last year found it a lot easier to deal with, still have to fine tune the metering rods a little more. I need to get back to your house to pick up that rear bumper, u still looking to get rid of the rims?

even in stock configuration, that 350 will have no problem taking every bit that the 4bbl intake and Q-jet have to throw at it. ask me how i know you'll definitely be able to tell the difference.
