But I ALSO need to replace the pigtail/socket that it plugs into. This pigtail seems to only be offered as part of a complete power window harness that fishes thru the entire dash for $140...
I really don't want to do that, nor spend that much...I'd rather just buy the pigtail and splice it at the door. does anyone know of a supplier or source?
OK...starting to get partial answers to my own question. Maybe this will help others. Ames (and others) sell the harness. They directed me to M & H Electrical fabricators, who make the harness, but for some unknown reason M & H refuses to sell me just the pigtail separately...but they did refer me to www.repairconnector.com
Appears I can buy a pair of 5 packs of these terminals, and if I can cleanly get the terminal block open I can cut the rusted/bent/destroyed terminals off each wire and re-crimp new ones...essentially rebuilding mine with new terminals.
It is an option. I haven't tried to get my 45 year old plastic terminal block apart yet...something tells me it might be an issue disassembling it without cracking it. We shall see...might play with it this weekend.
I sure wish I could just give somebody $50 or so and have them hand me a brand new built pigtail...it seems to be very difficult for me to source. I'm still open to leads and references if anyone has them...
Thank you for the offer. But if I'm understanding you correctly the switch and pins fit together loosely? Sounds like that one will need some terminal replacement/repair to guarantee a solid contact also...or am I misunderstanding what you said? If it's a good solid one that makes excellent contact at all 9 pins, I'm interested...shoot me a price thru PM or here or whatever...thanks.
I really prefer to find a new reman if possible, which is what I'm trying to source. What annoys me is that the part I want to buy is known to exist...brand new...as part of a $140 harness. I just can't figure out how to buy it as a separate part...or who manufactures it.
Still haven't had a chance to attempt rebuild/repair on mine. Might be easier than I think.
