Am looking for advice on 1969 to improve handling. Previous owner had different springs on the driver and passenger side (mono and multi) so the car even visuallly sits slanted a bit. Want to know what should I go with for the best driver ride? Also should I put on new shocks and if so what does everyone prefer?
you should replace both rear springs as a pair with multi leaf. people seem to like the edelbrock IAS shocks, but any gas charged shock is better than old worn ones.
dont forget mounting hardware and bushings/shackles if you need them for the springs. I got 5 leaf thru Classic, i think, and it sits a little high.
You can only get so much handeling from f/g/f cars because they were emergency design cars so that GM could keep up with the mustank. Year One has that trick suspension set-up but it's a boat load of money.
Through the years, I have always respected the car for what it is. I've asked it for much as far as cornering goes, and the only demand I have ever placed on the cars is that when I crack the whip, they take off in a straight line. Just my $00.02.
I put stock 4-leaf springs on my car about 4 years ago. I like the ride height of the 4-leafs and they ride well. I just used stock rubber bushings at the time. I bought self-adjusting gas shocks (American-Made) at Auto-Zone for $18.00 each, and I like how they work. The sagging springs and air shocks I replaced rode like crap!
I think I paid about $75 bucks for a complete set of KYB shocks from pickproparts.com. I used KYB gas-a-justs on the front and GR2's on the rear. Great shocks!
I have KYB's on the back and five leaf springs and munroe coil overs up front with new coil springs. Good ride/handling with my BFG's on all four corners and new front end parts.

NPD sells Eaton and they list '69 350 coupe and '69 250-1v convert. with 5 leaf and the rest with 4 leaf. Even though they are both 5 leaf they are different part numbers and different "OE" rate(whatever that is). Can anyone confirm this is correct?
