My car has a white vinyl convertible top. What is the best way to bleach it back to whiteness?

The top is only 3 years old, but it has gray marks from when it was folded.

Any old tricks out there? Car wash soap doesn't seem to work.

Brett says this company has a good product for that....I havent tried it (black top ,2 yrs old)

Hi Rob There is a product here in Canada called Spray Nine. I have used it to clean the top on my 67 rag and it did an amazing job. I'm not sure it would get the gray marks out or not but it sure did restore the whiteness to my top. The company name is Spray Nine Canada P.O. After cleaning with this product I just gave the top a wash with hot water to clean off any of the Spray Nine that may have been left on the surface. I do recommend you try it if you can find it. Get some 3M vinal cleaner for marine applications. You mix it with water, and don't confuse 3M vinal cleaner with 3M vinal conditioner, mistake I made by not reading the lable carefully.

Don't get me wrong, the conditioner is good stuff, but it isn't as powerful of a cleaner as the vinal cleaner.

I use 3M's vinal cleaner on all the vinal on my 30' Proline w/a cuddy cabin. The seats and bolsters are snow white, and the bolsters take one hell of a beating from blood splatters. This stuff keeps the vinal snow white, so it ought to do a good job on the vinal top.

20 years ago, when I had a white/white '69 Camaro convertible, I used Soft Scrub and a nylon brush. I was pleased with that methond at the time.
