My car is a stock 350 with a 2-Barrel carburetor which provides enough power for me to enjoy driving the car it’s just too quite. I want that muscle car sound with out the hassle of headers. Will the 30” Chambered Muffler from Summit do the trick.
Neat. It oughta... if you have duals without a transverse muffler and have them welded in somewhere in line it should sound similar to glasspacks, except maybe somewhat more mellow.
Can you have the pipes come out in front of the rear tires? Or will that be too loud inside with the windows down? Saves bending the pipe over the rear axle.
And for a 350 engine, is dual 2" pipes enough, or would 2 1/2" provide better flow?
I'm in the same situation, and was thinking to just get dual exhaust with borla mufflers.

I know alot of you don`t like this, but here it goes I have a 350 Chev in my 69 Bird with 2" pipe from the headers back into 2 Red Devils or chambered Red Bullets if you want to call them, with tail pipes bent over the axle and exit just under the lower Q-panel,near the rear spring shackle, when you are driving they have a nice rumble and when you get into the throttle they have a nice rap to them.
Many a wise young jedi, i mean ricers have said maxwell house is good to the last drop.

I once had 2 inch pipe installed behind a Chevy 350.....I first started the car with open headers....had GREAT throttle response and good power. I installed a 2 inch exhaust and immediately noticed a lag in throttle response, ability to rev and a HUGE loss in power. Use NOTHING less than 2.5 inch pipe for even a mild engine.
My 455 now has 2.5 inch exhaust, but I will be changing to 3 inch when funds allow.
I'd recommend a set of Magnaflow mufflers for a good sound.....I use flowmasters dumped under the car in front of the rear axle....not bad inside the car, but definitely louder than some people prefer.
Just gotta love instant gratification upgrades. Good mufflers do for the ears what a nice set of wheels do for the eyes. I like those projects that don't put your car out of commission for a week
From my understanding if you have to big a tailpipe you actually lose power because there is no back pressure. I believe that for a 350 you would want like 1 5/8 headers into a 2.5 inch exhaust to mufflers. past mufflers you can run 2 inch since the exhaust gases are cooler at this point. I think it was due to hot gases expand. I'm no exhaust expert but this is what several other hotrodders have explained to me. also you would get extra h.p. if you add a crossover pipe
Too big of exhaust is the same as having too big of a cam, power will peak out than drop off, unless you are running over 300-350HP,use no larger than 2.5" exhaust. The bigger exhaust(3") will not allow enough back pressure(too much exhaust flow) causing a great loss of power and a great loss to the wallet.
