I am an old first generation Camaro guy from waaaay back having owned and built up several '68's. Took my five year old daughter (next generation gear head) to the show on Saturday and even she could not get over the massive amount of first gen. Camaros there. After about an hour of walking around she looked at me and said that the show was very light on Firebirds. We saw only one '68 and one '69 there and it really made me proud not only of her by recognizing this but to be a Firebird owner. I don't dislike the '67-'69 Camaro by any means but it's extremely nice to have something different than the norm.
Well you're definitely stepping outside of the norm box when you own a Firebird. Must've been a pretty big show if there were two birds at the same show.
We attended the Plunket Show, the year that Pony cars got in free. We were one of three first gen Firebirds that we counted, in a show of about 3500 cars. We lost count of the Camaros.
I stand corrected by one of my buddies who was at the show earlier in the day. There was also a '67 at the show that must have headed out by the time we were there. Wow-3 first gen Firebirds compared to a couple dozen Camaros!!
The ggs show around here usually get about 3K+ cars in the summer. I think the last couple that I went to I might have counted 5 or 6 first gens. Either there aren't that many around or we're just too smart to pay $75 bucks to rent a piece of ground to park on for the day so they can make a boatload of money off spectators at the gate.
You should see the Camaro guys when HALF shows up at Camaro Concepts car show....we are almost as many as they are...lol...then we tell then we show up to "put some class to their show"...lol
Ha! my daughter knows the difference as well, she is 8 now and has been going with me to car shows for many years. It does make you proud! Dave, you guys should try to make it to the Pontiac Southern Nationals in DFW. They recently announced the show will be in September this year (it's always been in June). There are always several FGF's there.
Thanks for letting me know. I'd like check that out and get a chance to meet some people in the area who are also into these cars. I'll be sure to keep that on my schedule and will definitely bring my daughter too!!
I think a few people from the San Antonio POCI club will head up to the September show. Still a long ways away however.

Just looked it up online and it's only about 12 miles from my house. That doesn't happen to many times in an area as spread out as this. We will definitely be there. Thanks again.
