As far as I can tell, I have a numbers matching 68 400 4 speed. My first question is about the door lock knobs in the first picture. They don't look like anything GM would make to me. They have "made in Hong Kong" stamped on the bottom. I guess I need to get some new ones. Are they specific to this model car or will pretty much any old GM door lock knob work?
Next, I don't know if the car came with a clock. In the second picture, below the shifter it looks like that's where one should have went?? Is that right? I did find a clock in the trunk of the car (3rd pic) with some other parts, but I don't think it came with the car either. It's manufactured by Borg. I opened the cover on the clock and it had Oct' 60 as a date of manufacture. It looks like someone had it velcroed onto the console. If anyone can ID it please let me know.
1)Not original door locks pulls. Probably any old ones will work but if you're going to use any old ones you might as well use the ones you have. 2)No that is not where the clock would've gone. 3)You're right that is not the clock that goes in this car. But you may be able to sell that one for enough to buy one if you can figure out what it came on.
Thanks guys! I'll order some new lock knobs. This old 68 still has a lot of stuff it came with from the factory as far as I can tell. Unfortunately someone changed the color of the car and the interior, and it has some rust in the rear fenders. A total restoration is out of my budget right now but I can certainly work on the details. At some point soon I'll post the identification numbers on the car and get everyone's thoughts on it.
And yes, that clock looks just like the 61 Buick clock on Ebay. I'll do a little more checking up on it then run it on Ebay because someone out there needs it. Thanks again.
Be careful with what Gus posted here. Maro's used the chrome door pull. fgf's were color coordinated with the door panel color. (ie: black, blue, red, white, etc...)
