My son and i were looking for a father son 1969 firebird project, i found a firebird 350 coupe with 35 options in very nice condition. After collecting a few parts for the restore i realized all these options was going to be to much to restore for rookies and my heart was realy in a convertible.I sold the car in search of a 1969 firebird convertible. Well i found a 1969 firebird convertible, bought it, had it deliverd and found out it is a 1969 350HO convertible # matching in a real nice restorable condition. Question, should this be a father son rookie restoration....Any thoughts Thanks
Father and son builds are very cool projects to take on. Just sit down and make a realistic plan for the car and stick to it. It's easy to go crazy once you get into it but keep to the plan and have a good time. Don't throw anything away even if you don't think you'll use it. You never know. My son and I built a car when he was in high school mostly to keep him out of trouble(for him) and to give us time to spend together before he would go away to college(for me). Probably made it even tougher when he left because we spent so much time together but worth every minute. Of couse it's been 8 years now and I really could use that extra stall in my garage but what are you going to do. He won't even talk about selling it.
The help on this site is unbelievable, ask your questions and the answers come. Looking for something, just ask someone knows someone. Make sure to order catalogues from Ames, NPD, Classic, Year One. They are great education tools.
The real question is how many numbers matching survivor 350HO convettibles are left.... not many! Congrats on a nice find! Post some pix.
