Okay another easy question. My '68 only has one horn. Is this the same horn as the low note of the dual horn option? It sounds sort of low and actually a little weak. My question is, if I am searching for a dual horn setup do I need to find both, or just the high note?
I'd have to say you're just looking for the other note. My car had only one note. I was lucky in that I just happened to have the other one sitting around from a previous GTO project. With both installed, it sounds normal.
Steve, your 68 should have the second horn wiring right in front on the driver side of the radiator, so experiment with a few cheap horns. Most stores sell them for 8-12 bucks a pop. Make sure you ground the assembly good with a bolt and nut, and scrub that mount hole with some sandpaper to clear off the paint and make a good ground.

Oh shoot - there's this company that sells a very directional horn that you install behind your grill - it's like 2 big speakers. Puts out some sick decible level too (125-150db?) - something loud. I remember a story of this guy stopped at a traffic light doing a horn comparison with an ambulance (not on a call), it was comparable!
Otherwise for a dual note, I agree with the above - buy a $10 cheapie and experiment. As a music guy, I know 2 notes combined at different pitches can have a variety of possibilites - some might sound nice (like a 5th or octave) and others might sound nasty (like a 6th that is slighty sharp, or any note that is not in tune with the other).

They must have different part numbers. I have two non-originals so can't help with the numbers. I'm sure they are in the 68 books though. Yellowbird?????? Help!

Does anyone know what years and models would have the same horns as my '68? I think I might call our local junkyards, but I was hoping that the horns would be universal across a few models and years.

I am going to call around the local junkyards today. Any idea what years and models would share the horns with my '68? Does Pontiac have a part number database somewhere online that I could just type in the number?
The camaros of the same years would. Most GM of the same vintage i believe look similar but the mounting brackets attached to the horn may differ from ours.Later models(i believe 70'+) will differ and have a flat bottom.I'll be going to a wrecking yard that is virtually unknown, only to locals, next weekend.I have been there before and they have tons of GM classic cars. I probably can find you a set of horns but not necessarily fiebird or camaro of firstgen vintage but horns should look the same.
