I have my drive shaft off doing work on my bird. It looks its age and I was thinking before putting it back on to give it a coat of black chassis paint to freshen it up a bit. Should I just put back on as is or what paint do you recommend for newer nicer look? Thanks

Driveshafts came from the factory in bare steel marked with stripes (codes) that showed workers which drivetrain combo the shafts were for (so they could install the correct one).

I documented the stripes on my driveshaft (they are listed in the factory Service Manual), sanded it down, cleaned it off and resprayed it with the Eastwoods gray that simulates bare steel. Then I masked it off and painted on the two stripes with a wide brush.

Would you happen to have any pictures of that? Sound nice.

while it's out, and if you don't know if/when it was done, send it out to a driveline service and have it straightened and balanced and new u-joints installed. only about 100 bucks out here.

Besides the Eastwood Gray Spray Paint, what color would mostly replicate the steel color that I can find locally? Krylon, Rustoleum etc...Thanks.

I don't have any other good ideas. It seems everyone makes a good color to replicate cast iron, but not the other colors. Eastwood's is still my only source for the rest and I always try to make sure I have at least 1 can of each in the garage.
