I have a 1969 Firebird and I am trying to determine whether the car is numbers matching. Where on the motor would the partial VIN be located on a 69 350? Also my block is stamped WR I have only found one place that listed WR code blocks for 69 350 as having 330hp every other site doesn't list a WR code.

The car is a 350 2 barrel with a 4 speed Trans.

From my quick research...

WR is a 69 Pontiac Executive model 330 HP 350 CI engine.

Should be a 7029263 Carb.

What are the head codes? They are located on the center exhaust ports and are easily visible from either side.

Getting the date code of block will help tons. It is located on a pad just under the distributor and is cast into the block..the block casting number runs along the back of the block and if looking st the block date code, it runs at a 45 degree angle.

The Pontiac Executive engine codes are usually not included in most Pontiac sites. That is why you are having issues locating info.

Sounds interesting! I am going to say if it is a WR, hopefully you have the correct heads for it which I believe are #48's. This IMO is a VERY GOOD start. The 69 WR also came from the factory with an 068 Pontiac cam. Although not numbers matching to your 69 Firebird, it is comparable to a 350 HO for a Firebird.

I checked Firebird specific engine codes becuase WR didn't ring a bell with what I have seen in the past and thought it may have been a low production California engine. I didn't see anything listed.

I would however get the PHS for the car at www.PHS-Online.com
This info will tell you EVERYTHING your car came with from the factory...Engine size, code, options, trans type, rear end ratio etc.

Please keep us posted with the block VIN! I want to see if what I thought is correct.

Tom
