I have a 67 vert that is nearly done except for the top. I installed the frame to line it up prior to having a top installed and have an issue. The frame binds at about the half way point going up and down and then the driver joint kind of pops and the frame continues moving. When it pops the whole thing shifts. I cant see anything bent. Has anyone had this type of problem, I was thinking of buying the bushing replacement kit but I am not sure if it will help or not? Any help would be appreciated.
I'm not sure about the bushing kit your talking about. I don't recall ever seeing one listed. The frame arms are all rivited together. I'm not sure how you could re bushing it. I had a bad top arm on my car and got a used one to replace it.
Craig it sounds like you have something out of adjustment, maybe the spring is too tight, it's a manual top. Go to thefirstgensite.com/library look for the fisher body manual for 1967 and it should help you adjust it properly.
Its a manual top. Driver side is the problem. It is the first joint from the front that is binding. I called it a bushing kit, but it is a pivot bolt kit from Ames. I really do not think it will help, looking at the pictures it appears most of the bolts are for attaching frame and like you said most is rivoted. It is driving me nuts, I have read the top adjustment manual over tried adjusting for hours. How did you determine the top arm was the problem?
