I have to get a new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. Any recommendation on brand and where I should get it. The 400 should be pretty much stock < 400 hp.

I was looking at the ram brand from summit. Thought about this one ( http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ram-92760/overview/make/pontiac/model/firebird ) but did not know if i should step it up to ( http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ram-98760/overview/make/pontiac/model/firebird )

Do I need to keep it at the 10.4 size or will it matter to make it 10.5 if so, maybe the ram premium replacement is good enough. ( http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ram-88760/overview/make/pontiac/model/firebird )


Would center force be a better option, maybe the dual friction. ( http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ctf-df271739/overview/make/pontiac/model/firebird ) or the hdx clutch ( http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ram-88760hdx/overview/make/pontiac/model/firebird )

I would say a stock replacement. If you buy the kit you get the throwout bearing and the alignment tool as well. Last stock type I bought was made in Korea. You have to make sure you get one for Pontiac so it will match the flywheel and the alignment tool is the correct diameter. Also check the throw out bearing is the correct height or you may have adjustment troubles. Centerforce doesn't come with the alignment tool or the bearing.

Also make sure you get a Pontiac pilot bearing as standard procedure is to supply a Chevy bearing, which bears no resemblance to Pontiac.

Will the 10.5 clutch fit a stock flywheel or do I need the 10.4?

No recommendations on a quality clutch to fit my needs?

I put the cheapest clutch / pressure plate combo I could find from Summit behind my 400. That was 3 years and about 8,000 miles ago. It's not a daily driver and I don't abuse it (much). No complaints so far. No chatter, smooth engagement. YMMV. Hope that helps.
