Looking to see from you that know what subframes fit on a 67 Firebird, the reason is I'm trying to figure out what steering linkage I have on it as 67 firebird steering linkage is not correct for it. I know the 67,68,camaro,68 bird, Nova (but I do not know what years) ANY HELP, Thanks.
I have a '68 Nova subframe under mine and my '67 steering gear fit without a problem.
What's the specific issue?

I did some research on the First Gen Site on part numbers
Tie Rod Ends: Different #'s for all 3 years (67-69). Ames catalog agrees with that info.
Inner tie rods: Same part number for 67 & 68, different for '69 and unique from side to side (LH, RH) for '69. Ames catalog agrees with that info.
Center rods: Same part number for '67 & 68, different for '69 and unique for V8 vs straight 6. Agrees with Ames catalog. Apparently the '67/'68 center link is newly available.
Pitman arms are all different for all 3 years and dependent on engine (V8 vs 6) and power steering or not.
Idler arms unique for all 3 years. Agrees with the Ames catalog

Thanks, I have been in contact with someone who gave me the interchangable years and cars for the F and X bodies. I think i'm going to get the 67 Firebird original parts and scrap the bastard pieces I have. The only problem should be at the pitman Arm / Steering box location.
Let me share the info, I hope it has some merit in case someone else needs it.Here you go:
The subframes from 67-69 F-bodies and 68-74 x bodies are the same. That includes Firebirds, camaros, novas, apollos and venturas. BBC's, SBC's, and BOP engines can all be used with the engine mounts being the difference in swapping from one to the other. Suspensions parts from 67-72 are all identical with the pitman arm being the difference based upon manual or power steering. 73-74 steering components for some reason were changed around on the x bodies BUT anything from the earlier years can be easily used to "convert" it to the cheaper parts if you swap it all out. There must be something crossed or messed up in your parts because the 67 stuff WILL work with anything from 67-72. hope this helps
There is one major issue that I highlighted in a post in the Hall of Fame:
You cannot mix and match lower control arms with subframes due to the location of the bump stop.
For FGF's: On '67 subframes, the bump stop is on the frame behind the coil spring, for '68 the bump stop is on the control arm behind the spring and for '69 the bump stop is on the control arm IN FRONT of the spring. You must have lower control arms that match your subframe or aftermarket types with multiple bump stop locations.
And early '67 F-Body subframes will not work on later Nova's as they are missing the 3rd radiator support bushing hole that the Nova's utilized (different from either F-body)
The info you got about Nova's is incorrect. In 1973, the Nova started using the 2nd Gen (70-81) F-Body subframe. So your good Nova's for interchange are only '68 - '72

Salmon, Good Info, my bump stop was on the upper control arm and lower control arm with nothing on the frame itself. the new control arm had mulitple location holes for the bump stop.
Great. I have aftermarket tubular upper and lower control arms so they are compatible with everything.

salmon38 the 73-74 Nova frame is not the same as the 70-81 Camaro. It is the same as the 68-72 Nova and 69 F-Body. The differences are where the motor mounts are, there is a tab welded to the back side of the frame because they changed to the clam shell type motor mounts, and the holes in the front frame horn where the bumper mounts. The steering linkage is different between Chevy and Pontiac also.
If I buy the 67 parts ie: inner and outer tie rods and sleeves, center drag link, idler arm and new pitman arm is there a chance the steering box would need to be changed also?
OK, I double-checked and you are right. The '75 X-body was indeed the 1st year of the 2nd Gen F-body subframe.
But I knew there was something about 73 and 74 Nova subframes that made them less desirable - the fat bumper mounts. Did not know about the motor mount issue.

The sterring box should be the same. When I put the SBC in my 69. I had to change the steering linkage because the Pontiac linkage hit my headers, the Chevy linkage did not.
