I have restored a 1973 Pontiac 400 and I am converting my '69 Coupe from an automatic to a manual car. I have got everything for the conversion except the starter and flywheel. Are Chevy and Pontiac flywheels and starters interchangeable? My rebuilt motor is stock with the exception of an aluminum intake and Holley 4-barrel, so I do not need or really want to pay for parts that exceed OE specs. The Chevy stuff is a better value and seems to be what pulls up on every parts store computer. Thanks for your help.
I doubt that the flywheels are but I know for sure that the starters are not compatible.
Very basic - Chevy starters are on the passenger side, Pontiac's on the drivers side.

Pontiac has a unique bolt pattern, only pont flywheels will fit. chev starter should work with the right Pontiac nose but your existing starter should work
Thanks a lot for the great info. So how many teeth are on a Pontiac flywheel? That way I know exactly what to buy. Also, I don't have any starter at all. When I purchased the project there were some items missing. One being the starter.
