Sorry guys if this is in the wrong section as I am new to the forum. I am finally taking the plunge on a muscle and the Firebird is on the top of my list. I am looking at a local car and wanted to get your expert thoughts. Car is a 68, 350, no ac and Verdoro green with a black interior. The car was a nut and bolt restoration 12 years ago and has been driven about 500 miles since that time and store in the original owners garage. They are retired and don't have the time to enjoy. Car looks like it was just restored yesterday and the have detailed pics of the car being restored. The car was completely disassembled. Are there any key problem areas I should examine on the completed car or in the restoration pics? I am looking for my first muscle car to enjoy and don't need to win any races. Knowing me in the summer I will drive it to work a day or two a week. I don't plan on entering it in any shows but just enjoy. Can you guys give me an idea on what you think the value of this car is? Also if I wanted to add ac any idea the cost?
Great I will take some Monday or Tuesday and post through Google. Will give me a reason to use the SLR camera! Besides the vin and the motor should I document any other numbers? On the motor where are the numbers? Any key areas you would like to see besides the interior, trunk, engine, undercarriage , and exterior?
Jimd, have you already purchased the car? If you haven't is the car being portayed as a numbers matching? If so don't take a persons word for something. You must verify what they are saying as true. There are many levels of restoration. Protect yourself from someone portaying a car as something it is not. Lot factors into the value of a car. If you are wanting something to have fun with spend what you feel comfortable with. There is lots to consider about a older car if you have a question don't be affraid to ask. There are many very smart car guys here. Hope this helps. Joe Oh (WELCOME TO THE CLUB)
Thanks Joe. I have not bought the car yet. I am going to take a lot of pictures for you guys. The owner and his wife have a stack of restoration photos and receipts which is a little comforting (along with owning the car from new). I have just enough general muscle car knowledge to make myself dangerous but I know I have about 10% of what you guys have. Once I get the pics up i'll take all the advice I cam get before I make an offer. Jim
Welcome to the site. The car sounds nice. Take lots of pictures.

Also, it may or may not matter to you whether the car is numbers matching, most are not after all these years. It does affect the value. Please note other options as well, such as disc brakes, tilt wheel, custom interior. These add to the value as well as the enjoyment.
Vikki 1969 Goldenrod Yellow / black 400 convertible numbers matching
I will post some pictures of the car when I take them tomorrow. Here are a few pictures the owner had on his computer from the restoration process. As you can see the car had some rust issues before... Lots more to come tomorrow.
Nope someone else got for 17500 I didn't want to go more than 15K for it. Need alot of TLC and there was/is a lot of mixed bag of parts that need to be changed out. Still looking for 67 convertible if you run across one let me know.
Anytime you find one don't forget to post some pics and info on this site. That way it it looks like a good deal one of us can buy it out from under you....I mean give you helpful advice!!
