http://www.westfieldimportsllc.com/1967_Pontiac_Pontiac_Westfield_IN_195228894.veh here's what he says: "This car is all matching number, 1 owner car, bought new and has been in same family since bought off the showroom floor in 1967. We just took in about 2 months ago. It was restored to factory specs, except with new wheels tires and stereo ( looks factory but is new technology with iPod hook up) all factory parts are included. (Wheels hubcaps, factory stereo)" thanks!!
Anyone's guess. It looks really good but you have no idea as to what the underside, engine and trunk look like. The doors appear to have a large gap between rear qtr and door.
1 owner sounds good. Drive out and have a look.
I would expect they are asking $25k-$35k range.

I'm not an expert on value but I do watch the market fairly closely and $39K for that car is too much, in my opinion. The fact it's a 326 and automatic make it closer to $20K. If it fits what you're looking for, and resale isn't a concern than $25K. This assumes engine, bottom, trunk etc. all are clean. This price without those pictures is purely guesswork. The devil on this one may be in the details under the skin.

I agree with that but again the car is worth what somebody is willing to pay and these days looks like a lot of people are paying more than they're realistically worth.
I just sold my '67 last fall that was a twin to that car for $22k.
No way that car is worth anything near 39. Low 20's at best. If that car is worth 39, my 400 'vert is worth $60k.
Aint gonna happen unless a sucker comes along.

If the rest of the car (what we cannot see) is exceptional, then I don't see why $35k is not reasonable. However, given the fact they don't have those pictures on the website tells me it's probably not that great a car underneath. That's why the wide range.
You have to go look and take about 100-150 pics to evaluate the car. Someone can do it for you. That's what I did with my car.
Look at these 68 Firebird verts. They went for $35k-$50k (overseas buyer).
Hey myrod.com is where my 68 400 vert. started! You're right about his cars being top notch and getting top dollar (I'm now bias!). However, I can personally tell you - what he sold my car for isn't even close to what I paid for it a couple years later ...and the car literally hadn't been driven more than 50 miles between myrod.com and me buying it. The difference being timing and marketing ...the bird is still perfect(to me). I'm not sure market values are back to where they were ...say in 2005.
I'm truly not trying to drive the market down ...I'm all for folks paying top dollar and driving up the market for all of us owners, but the nice thing about this site is we're honest in our post based on what we see from all of our diverse backgrounds/regions etc. A 67 vert., 326, auto ...typically isn't seeing over $25k at this point in time ...unless there's something exceptional or rare about it that connects with 1 buyer. That 1 buyer may be willing to extend themselves for nostalgia etc., but it may be awhile before they're able to recoup their investment cost ...if they decide to sell. I think we all watch Ebay pretty close, and over the last 4 months or so sellers are asking some pretty high prices, which again is positive for all of us that own a FGF, but these cars don't appear to be selling. There recently was a nice example of a 68 400, 4 spd. vert., in a desirable color that ended up getting $42k, and it turned about to be a questionable deal based on the buyers feedback ..and that was top dollar for a fairly rare bird given the current market conditions. Again, this is all just my opinion based on watching the market ...I'm no expert ..that's a fact!

Not a bad looking car at all. Whomever reassembled after resto did a piss poor job and asking price is $15-18k over market value. Will he get his asking price? Highly doubt it. I speculate this guy bought the car for X dollars then spent another X amount in the resto and is trying to recoup every penny he spent plus a premium plus a premium for "one owner".
Plus for one owner IF documented.
At 39K, he is in 67 Firebird 400 4 speed vert territory with a meticulous frame off resto.

I would agree with that statement. He did a quick resto and he's looking for a pay back. Depends on how it turned out. The doors just look dreadful (spacing at fender and Qtr's).
BTW: The original question was: "How much do you think they would be asking?". Being a reseller I did not expect them to sell at wholesale. The have to have a margin.

I'd feel better about this one if buying from a distance than the one listed above ..more pictures and a more realistic buy it now price at $26k.
That is a nice car as well but it requires some work to be a show car. Lot's of little things to detail/fix. In the end, you have to look at the car up close to confirm condition.

Boys, i can't thank you enough for the insghts. Yes, i like the http://www.webeautos.com/detail-1967-pontiac-firebird-for_sale-used-10713960.html car. Cash it will be $26K. He wants a deposit to hold it. I want to fly there Thursday morning and drive it back to Chicago with my boy. Seems odd to put a deposit on a catr tha ti havent seen... but it IS on ebay so i understand... how much of a deposit? should it be refundable if i don't like it? do the 100 pictures give you any pause? The broker says it's a showcar....
there are 100 pictures at that site-- several of the undercarriage.. a couple of the numbers tags too.. anything look like it's not worth a trip there? i don't mind paying a little over what the market is... thanks again for all the comments
- Fender emblems need replacement - big crack at base of steering wheel - noisey belts - 2sp 2 bbl /w a/c not going to leave a strip of rubber - bumper placement looks odd on PS side - turn signal arm: correct for 67? - LH rear tail light not aligned correctly - impossible to verify paint quality from pics - no idea to condition of engine - excellent driver car for sure
Banshee would do an excellent job at finding any issues on your car.

Thanks again guys! I bought the car but didn't have the heart to drive it 1000 miles across the country. I'm having it shipped in a closed container. Gus, your points were spot on but I ended up not haggling over price. I was so happy with it that I handed over the 26k. I will line up a mechanic.. but it rides beautiful!!! Great character.... many memories from when I was a boy and we had a base firebird...
Congrats and welcome to the club! I guess I should have held out for $28k on mine.

Awesome! Glad it worked out ..much better deal than the original listing you posted! I live in Charlotte, NC and purchased my 68 bird near Columbus, OH ...was going to trailer her back, but made a snap decision and drove it (that's only half the distance you were considering so you made the right call not knowing the car too well yet ...and all the rain in the area would have made it very tough on you) ...my trip worked out well and ended up being an experience I'll never forget ...loved every minute and got a thumbs up about every other vehicle that passed me ...nice to see people still appreciate an American classic ...anyway, I averaged about 14 mpg on beautiful sunny day in April ...picture perfect thru the mountains ...however, as much as I enjoyed it, not sure I'd do it again with a car I know nothing about. I did the first few hours around 45 mph and stopped about every hour or so to ease into the trip, and never went over 60 mph. My car had sat for a couple years so wanted to take it easy. I hope yours arrives safely and you get as much enjoyment out of it as all of us on this site do with ours!
