Came across a 67 in a barn when looking at another car. In storage many years. It has a 326, power windows, cruise and a column shift. I thought that the column shift was only available with the 6 cyl, so I am thinking it may not be original. the car is blue/blue and the body looks pretty good. Anyone have any thoughts????
For 1968, column shift was standard for auto trans, floor shift was the option. It was standard on the base model cars with manuals also. So, not unusual to see it. Note all this is for '68.
I think that since so many people(including me on my coupe) have converted these to consoles that the perception of the column shift is that it was unusual.

When I was there looking, I told myself I didn't want to consider that car because I was bringing home another that I probably didn't need...so I didn't take pics.(just 1 really bad one). The car that is now sitting in the garage with my 69 bird is a 1956 Ford Victoria. Needs a lot of cleaning up and makes me realize how clean and original my firebird is! I will try to get some pics when I go back to see him about some paperwork. The car was a blue/green but not the aqua I am familiar with seeing..darker. I believe it has been there for about 20 years.
After reviewing the color chart, I would say that if it was the original color, it looked to be Mariner turquoise. But no reason to believe it was original color.
I plan to use Mariner Turquoise on my next project. I love that color!
