I ordered a new backup switch assembly kit from Performance Years to mount on the side of the transmission case. I noticed the kit does not come with the clip that is used to attach the backup switch to the mounting bracket. The diagram shows this clip as GM #9788460. Can someone let me know if there is an alternative part number that I can use AND where to go to purchase? I'm running into brick walls with every turn.

I have had this on order since 06/24/2013 and no luck getting it yet. I don't know of another vender that has it either.

Let me try to get in touch with my restorer. I think he used a part from a ford switch that worked perfectly. The link that Harold provided did not work, but I think you are speaking about the shiny metal clip in this picture, right?

Here you go...I was able to find it at NPD under Ford. Good to have a restorer that specializes in Boss 302, 351 and 429 Mustangs and knows every part of those cars, so can cross reference where needed.

Thank you so much for your trouble in looking up the replacement part number. Turns out though, I don't have the Muncie 4 speed tranny afterall. One of the previous owner's installed a Borg Warner T10 tranny, apparently off a 63 vette. So the switch assy that I bought won't even work. Guess I'll have to use the switch that gets installed on the Hurst shifter. Not happy about that.

Found this post from a while back. Looking to buy all parts necessary to put a Muncie 4 speed back up switch in my 68. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get the parts or have one they would sell?
