So with cold weather approaching I've discovered that the selector slides but isn't engaging. So how do I get heat? Any easy tricks before I tear the dash apart? The prior owner neglected to tell me this....
If your selector slide has not been used in a long time, the cables under the dash may have freezed up.
You may have to pull the glove box out to see where the cables terminate at the heater box, then clean and lubricate them. The cables move the flapper doors and re-direct air over the heater coil.

lol, sry, wasnt trying to be a smart "A", just thought I would ask first before assuming it was hooked up...you know the old saying to assume makes an a s s out of you and me...lol Might want to peek up under the dash and look at the cable that goes to the top of the heater box, it has like a coil at the end and just slides down over post. Could have come off. If it is connected, then you may have to pull off the front duct to see if it is moving the flapper door open or closed.
