My firebird dash board does not fit well. It does not seem to sit forward enough when I look at it from above or underneith it doesn't seem to tuck in properly. It is also wavy from being high in some points and lower in others where it is secure. I'm about to take it apart and am looking for suggestions. At the moment it is only secured with two bolts on the top I believe.

I've never had it off before.

My dash pad also doesn't have trim. Looking on-line there are many priced alternatives for dash pads and trim. Not even sure if I need a new dash pad or not yet.

I'm new to Firebirds so I'm not sure what if any issues there may be with these dash pads.

If anyone can send me some advice I'd appreciate it. As it is I'll probably take apart and try to reset it further ahead.

I'm going to take mine appart first and see if there is any hope of securing my pad better first.

I have looked at the Justdashes site thanks Doug that is an option if first step doesn't work.

Gus what is the price for your reproduction one and what are the odds of it fitting correctly? I understand these don't always fit well. Does your pad include the trim. Please send pic if possible. Same goes to you 68tpls.

Not sure which way I'll go first. Will take apart first and then mulling will continue.

Thanks guys for responding. Great looking convertibles.

John

It fits ok. I'm making (hopefully) a show car. $100 and it's yours. My sister is in Comox.

Your car looks great Gus. I'll get mine apart first and see. If you have a good picture it would help me. If not I might bug you again after taking mine apart. Thanks

My buddy just finished re-installing my restored dash this morning. It looks awesome! Had a local upholstry guy do it last winter. I took a chance, but it came out perfect! Vacuumed formed the repair, just like just-dahses.

But guy has some serious health issues now and won't be doing any more of them. I told him I'd have a waiting line for him, but he wasn't intersted. Was a favor for a friend's friend. smile

I have installed a few of the aftermarket ones and the fit was horrible. that metal strip pulls away from the foam and does not hold it down. I actually had to glue the whole thing down with weatherstrip adhesive and clamp it down to the metal dash till the glue dried.
Still did not look good

Just to finish this off I sent my dash to Just Dashes to find out that it was not an original dash. There was nothing they could do for me. It also cost too much to ship back so I left it with them. I ended up buying an original dash off of Firebird Central. It looked and installed great. No need for Just Dashes yet. Thanks for the help along the way guys.
