trying to keep this build as close as original as I can afford...according to build sheet(yes, original one ) this car came with hood/trunk light.
Question 1 - this wire harness is for the trunk light, I think, not sure where it plugs into to supply power?
Question 2 - Any help decoding build sheet? Vikki got some of it, here is what she came up with - It was a 4 speed floor shift 8 cyl not HO. Console. Dual horns, hood lamp, steel wheels with hub caps, belted tires size 195/14 whitewall. Compact spare. Solar Red with a black custom interior. Glove box lamp, ash tray lamp, trunk lamp. Rally gauges. Wheel well moldings. 350 2bbl or 4bbl. Single speaker, figuring out what kind of radio would take some work, if you care. Deluxe steering wheel, hand grip, Firebird emblems on glove box.
Pretty sure the trunk light harness plugs into the rear light harness as it passes into the trunk area on the driver's side.

I just finished cleraning up the trunk and wiring for the rear...didn't see a connector, I will undo the original loom holding the wires to find the corect end, thanx!
Connector goes at same location that dome light connects to harness at driver's side rear window well. If your car didn't come with the trunk light, you likely need to splice into the wiring near that location.

Something isn't right....original build sheet shows car came with trunk light. Found the connector in rear for dome light, but don't see how the orange harness that came with the car connects? Is it something obviuos I'm missing? Anyone have a pic how it is connected?
Sorry. It was a long time ago. I just know they plugged in next to each other at that location. May have been a pigtail splitter. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Working on the same issue, but mine is a rag top. Any you guys know where the trunk light connects to on a convertible? Does it go the the fuse panel and turns on with the floor lighting? Where exactely does it route? Same goes for the hood lamp, could use some guidance there as well. Thx!
