I've been talking to a guy who is looking to sell his '67 Firebird which he says is an original 400. He hasn't had a chance to send me the casting number but has told me that it has a YH engine code. Anybody know if this would be a correct engine? On www.teufert.net/pontiac/engcodes.htm it does show a YH code 400 for 1967 with auto tranny and 4 bolt main but no HP rating and nothing saying its for a Firebird. Anybody verify this is a correct engine for a Firebird and maybe know HP rating from factory?
'67's are easy to verify if an original 400 car. Look at the data plate behind the master cylinder. It has to have 3F on it if an original 400 car.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. Yep, try verifying the 3F code first. If that passes then you can check for the original motor using the PHS docs.
There were no VIN's on the engine blocks for '67, but the Engine Unit Number stamped on the front of the block needs to match the PHS.

Yeah I saw thew YH 428 too. Gets confusing sometimes with so much available information and not knowing who's a reliable source and who's full of crap.
according to some , there were supposedly a few 428s installed in birds...supposedly one guy in Houston has one in a 67...it was factory displayed in Las Vegas according to the tales/paperworks...everybody says there were no 428s , but ...acc to some there were a few??? I am NO expert on this issue...
Yep but no FACTORY installed 428's. Lots of rumors about Bobcat like 'birds re-engined by dealers.

I thought a pic you posted one time was in front of a different house, no more pool I guess?
pool is now 200 feet away , for the 32 units...very few use it...we havent been in it , but its nice...the guy next to it has a 60 convertible eldorado, all original, his parents bought it new...2 houses over on our side of the street a guy just sold his 58 MGA, but still has an Avanti and a 62 Stude Hawk...a guy 2 houses away oppsite me other direction has a 'fun' car too , a Porsche Boxter...used to have Alfas, so theres "classic cars" in the area!
rear overhangs ravine with a creek at bottom....now we have really screwed up this thread...but since its about a supposedly non existing 428 car anyway , no biggie?
