I simply used a 2 part etching primer and DP90 epoxy primer on the bottom side of my car. Its still holding up very well.
I have thought about using the truck bed liners but I heard they can be a fire hazzard. So that has me thinking twice. I have considered using the 3M undercoating in the wheel wells to keep the noise of flying debrie down.
I used the 3m, put it on inside of panels before installing them and have done the wheel wells. Shot it inside the rockers, it turns hard and sticks nice, I plan on doing the rest before putting it all together

There seems to be two versions of the 3m undercoat in 1quart bottles will any work...how many quarts would i need for underbody and wheel wells...dirty under there and i wire wheel it half of it already
The quart bottles are set up for those with the correct sprayers (and air compressors) for undercoating.
The smaller version is a pressurized "spray bomb" type can for those of us without the spraying equipment.

Buy 5 when you run out buy more, guarantee it will take at least 8 to put on 2 good coats. Cut corners and do it in 5, non the less it takes what ever you want to put on it.

3M makes a decent undercoat for a reasonable price. Why do you want to undercoat it? In most cases it does more harm than good on a classic car.
I'm currently in this process and just finished coating the frame rails with zero-rust (chassis paint). I plan on spraying the floor boards at least where the rockerpanels meet the floor boards with zero-rust as well. Should I leave it like that or do I need to spray rubber undercoating on top as well? I am worried about stones and paint chips if I don't undercoat, or is this not an issue?
I shot undercoating all over the underside of mine with rattle cans. Didn't count but I'd guestimate I went thru at least 8 or 10 cans by the time I was done.
Was not building a show car...mines very much a driver.
Hi everyone, I didn't want to start a new thread on undercoating so I figured I'd ask here. I'm currently refreshing some parts of the underbody (rocker panels and outer edge of floor pans). The rubber undercoating flakes off easy in those areas with a putty knife. The paint underneath the rubber is mostly intact.
I was going to spray these sections with zero-rust (similar to black chassis paint) and then some rubber undercoating. I was not sure if I should spray rubber undercoating or not and just leave it painted black chassis paint only since it is only driven in spring and summer and only dry days. If I did use rubber I was going to use either 3m 08881 or 3m 08883 rubber undercoating, 0881 is medium roughness $10, 08883 it's coarse and $15.
What do you guys think is the best approach. I start spraying Wednesday. Thank you guys.
