My 69 convertible has a lot of stainless and I was wondering what you guys recommend for cleaning it up. The best I have found so far is just plain chrome polish, aluminum polish doesn't seem to do as well.
I found a Stainless steel polishing kit from Northern Tool that fits my cordless drill for $25.00. It came with three different polishes and worked very well. I polished the window header bar on my vert. It took out the discoloring and some tiny rust spots.
I have tried a bunch of products and most didn't work that well and some left it dull. I did use fine grit paper (600/1000/2000) to get out some of the scratches in some places.
The best product that I used last year is Blue Magic Metal Polish Cream. It will remove the tarnish from the metal as well as polish the surface for a better shine. What I do like is that it will leave just a touch of patina behind so that it does not shine like some over restored piece on the car but you'll have to look closely to see it. I used paper towel because the paper acts as a mild sandpaper helping to get the metal to polish up. I did it all by hand with some CCR and Stevie Ray Vaughn playing.
Looks great! Now just straighten that driver's mirror and you will be good to go!

lol. Good that you can't see all of the other problems on my car.! We had ONE day that turned 75 and sunny so I backed the car out, washed it and hurried up and took pictures for insurance. Drove it around the block and hid it back in the garage before any "car czars" could see it.

Funny, everytime I adjusted my R/H to give the best view it looked tilted. Turned out there was two L/H mirrors. I took them off and put round ones on, they never look tilted now. Of course I can't see as much back there now. That turquoise [?] convertible looks pretty darn nice no matter what the mirror is doing.
