Trying to determine for sure whether or not the perimeter area surrounding the 1968 tach face was originally painted same color as the body or left unpainted (black). I have seen both, and some of the painted ones do look nice, but I believe most that I have seen are either aftermarket additions or repainted originals. I'm leaning toward a flat black (which I think is correct and makes the most sense) but wondered if any of you do have original, unretouched hood tachs or know with certainty how these were painted?
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. Thanks Harold, Gus and 68TPLS - pretty clear consensus and what I'm going to go with. A picture is worth a thousand words Gus. That looks original to me.
