So, my 68 Firebird is sitting with it's arse in the air, while I wait for my new fuel sender unit. Turns out it had a crack from being 46 years old. New one arrives tomorrow. Should have just gotten one with the new tank...
But, with that issue fixed, and the wiring/lighting gremlins about fixed, it will be time to swap the engine. That's another topic. But while the engine is out, I'm thinking about converting my alternator from the external regulated one, to an internal regulated one..the 1 wire type.
What do I need to make this happen? Is it worth the hassle?
I like the internal regulated alternator but would go with a three wire. Having the voltage sensing wire at a point on the firewall or in the dash rather than the normal buss bar junction is a good idea as well. Easy to convert and well worth the hassle, in my opinion.
