Not sure if anyone might be interested or not, but ran across a post in a different forum that showed a Formula steering wheel and a center emblem with the old style bird (wings down) in a 69 Firebird, looks really nice. The person had bought it off a guy on ebay from CA., and he refurbishes the formula steering wheels and makes the old style horn cap emblems. Hopefully my picture will post on here since it is a hit and miss if the picture will really post. But, I got the contact info for the guy and will be calling him later today. He already stated by email that he hadnt done any in a while but had all the stuff he needs to do the steering wheels and the center caps. I will post back once I talk with him on prices of the emblem caps and/or refurbishing the formula steering wheels if anyone else is interested.
I have a buddy who might be interested in the horn cap for his 69 bird w aftermkt steering wheel...it actually might be that kind of wheel, will send hm pic and info...thx
ok, talked with the guy who does this stuff, and here are a couple more pics of his stuff. the steering wheel in the photo is original and he hasnt restored it yet. He sells the horn pad with custom emblem for $100.00. I am still waiting on a reply if he sells just the custom emblem and how much. He sells the retored steering wheel, hub, horn contact and horn pad with custom emblem for about 349.00 plus some shipping.
OK, he got back to me and he told me that he would sell the custom emblem seperate, but he did mention that these emblems are a little thicker then the standard horn pad emblems, so if you wanted one for your horn pad, he likes folks to mail them to him so he can put them on or they might not be flush with the top of horn pad since he has to recess the horn pad slightly. He did say say they are a 1 1/2 in Dia. If anyone wants to contact him, his name is Craig and here is his email address mschoen4@sbcglobal.net

Bjorn, the guy told me he would sell the horn cap emblem for $25.00 if your buddy is interested. He also said he can pretty much make any size emblem.
Tbtx2010, I just noticed that you have a 68 FB, and from what I know these will not fit a 67 or 68 steering columns. It will only fit the 69 steering columns or newer with the ignition on the column itself. Sorry man!
That is good info to know. The guy that rebuilt mine told me they wouldnt work on 67 and 68's. Why? I have no idea, but if it works all the better. Thanks for sharing Gus! I would also say Gus, that you need a first Gen wings down horn button!!
Does anyone have the contact info for the guy that makes these? I want one for my 69 for auto-x. The original giant wood wheel is obviously not going to cut it. A 14" padded wheel like this that looks sorta stock (they did come on some 69 Trans Ams) would be awesome.
Thanks!
