If your still looking, post a picture of the one your looking for. I've seen a couple different one's (in all three first gen birds) that people said came with the car from the factory. So I guess you got what they gave you. I have a bunch of old gm jacks. Some complete some not. Mostly F body.
Well I have seen a few different styles also. I'm not a Firebird expert by any means I was hoping whoever might have one on here could confirm it's originality or "correctness"
I don't think I have that exact one. A few look like it but slightly different. If you want to see the ones I have, send your email address to dcf2027@msn.com and I'll send you some pic's. I see so many different jacks claiming to be this or that year, but there really isn't anyway to be sure since there are no factory numbers stamped on jacks. Here is an example of what I'm talking about. (Many other examples out there, just look).
Wow if the folks on here don't know for sure I don't know who would. The one I pictured sold recently on Ebay. I like it because it has the little rubber snubber to protect the bumper.
Sorry for the "newb" question, but am I correct to assume that given the prices of these space saver spares and the cannister to fill it, that people don't actually use them, but just open the trunk at car shows?
If you were to inflate it, can you just let the air back out to return it to space saver size??

They are 100% for show. And yes, there was a post here recently in a thread where someone posted a youtube video of someone filling and then letting the gas out to return to original size. (more or less)
The original filler valve has been swapped out for an incorrect one on that spare.

I carry a useable spare separate from my (show) space saver. I toss it under the car when at shows. (and hopefully don't drive away without it afterward)
