Speaking of old parts...Is it just me or does it seem like some of the parts being listed on the FS section are being listed at above premium rates for average take-off parts? Now I realize too, that a guy can ask any price he wants for something and it's only worth what someone will pay for it but still...lets get real! Like I'm seeing $125 for a stock intake thats in "nice condition". Really??? I just bought one last weekend at the swap meet for $20, in "nice condition". I don't know maybe I'm just living in the past again. My wife tells me it happens. Like I seem to think a pair of jeans shouldn't cost $300. Am I really that far out of touch??

I think the same as you do Bob, also when I sell my parts I'm not looking for top dollar I
Just a little extra money to put in my bird fund and figure I'm helping someone else out.

A few comments to stir the pot... 1. You live in a whole different world out in CA. Parts for these old cars dried up about 20 years ago in the Midwest. I could hit 40 swap meets up here and see one single fgf part. THis is one of the main reasons I try to get out there once or twice a year. 2. You have to have the time to actually attend a swap meet. Paying by PayPal and having it shipped to your door saves a lot of time and hassle. (plus it may complete the one part you need right away, verses spending three more summers attending swap meets "hoping" to find what you need. (see item 1). 3. I always try to help fgf members here first before throwing something on Epay, but some days I get the urge to purge xtra parts. Too much stuff sitting around here. Some from back in the '80's.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.
I feel like I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe.

parts ,as cars, sell for what a willing seller and willing buyer will agree upon....when it comes to 'parts' that I have taken off , or gotten with a car , and I dont want them (obviously I dont as they came off)...I just want them out of my garage....sell cheap, or they go to trash...so...I rather let someone who could use them have them cheap...better than taking up rook at my place...at least they get used. I hate to just toss them , but have if no interest in them.

You make all good points Craig. The thing about swap meets for me is it's like a day off. It's something I enjoy doing whether I buy anything or not. I understand some people don't have the time or patience to hunt out that part that they need so it makes sense just to buy it when you see it. There is alot to be said for here and now and it always costs more. It's possible I don't realize how spoiled we are out here on the west coast as far as parts go. We don't see alot of FGF stuff either but it's around if you look for it. Selling old parts is about the only way I can justify buying new ones but I usually try to sell for a price that I would pay for an item if I were looking for it. Then again I very cheap so that probably has alot to do with my perspective on pricing. It's just my hobby so I don't expect to take away from household budget or other more important things that are the reasons I go to work everyday. More often than not if there is something that I want for my car I start looking around for something to sell off until I have enough in hand to finance the purchase. It's just a way for me to keep perspective. I mean if it actually doesn't keep me alive, I can probably do without it. I suppose it's different if it's a business and not just for a wish list.

LOL....trust me, except for the trunk lid, the other parts serve a better purpose where they are ;-)
