Good day folks. I've recently acquired a 69 firebird in need of restoration.
I consider myself crazy for doing it as it will likely be a huge expense but here goes.
My intro: I built and sold a factory five cobra, sold just a few weeks ago, and looking for my next project I came across a 69 bird.
The car: originally a v8 car but is not numbers matching as it now sports a 71 SBC 350.
The guy before me did a poor restoration likely 10 years ago when he replaced both the front and rear frame sections. He also added 69 Camaro fenders
To do:
body panels I need: rear trunk (break in damage), trunk pan (holes here and there) rear quarters (patches or replace to get rid of camaro gills), roof patch at corner of drivers side, cowl shoulders and floor area behind them, panel behind rear window ( is not bad but guy had lettering inlaid into it and lots of filler)
Interior is good but is currently dark green, may switch to black.
color: no body tag on the car, I think it was originally green but is now blue...I prefer the blue myself.
Considering a frame off...looking for wooden tip over type rotisseries. Anyone tried that?
Did you get your money back out of the cobra? Just curious. Seems like getting your money back out of a build is near to impossible. I don't think I know anyone that's ever accomplished it. Good luck with the bird. It looks like you have your work cut out for you. And on a side note...AC/DC never goes out of style!
